Welcome Miss Williams!!

Miss Williams is from Wilmington University and is completing her student teaching with us.

Field Trip! Field Trip! Field Trip!

We had a great time on our field trip to Hagley Museum! It was very cold, but well worth it.  We were able to learn about what life was like in the 19th century. We visited the school house and toured the Gibbons House!  The ride home was even exciting when we were unable to exit the museum grounds due to road closures from the very important people passing through.  It was a fun experience waiting and watching from the bus whether we would get a  glimpse of the President or Vice-President passing.  It was quite a sight when we saw all of the vans and SUVS passing by us with such high security.  Even though  it was probably not the president we are pretty sure they were escorting the Biden family.  The students were very excited!!

Please take a look at our pictures from the trip my clicking on the link to the left.  (I will post the rest of the pictures when I get them from Miss Williams camera).

We have exchanged our first letters with our pen pals! We are very excited about all of the facts we learned about our new friends!  We have a lot in common!!  We will be exchanging letters again in mid December.

Update On Our Pen Pals:

We received our first delivery from our Pen Pals in Houston Texas!

Here are some fun facts we learned:

School Name-Feist Elementary-(pronounced Feast)

School Mascot-Bear

Their school colors are Turquoise Blue and White! They change their spririt wear design every year!

They are in the third largest district in the state with over 100,00 students!

They have 21 students in their classroom.

Their teachers name is Mrs. Mroz (pronounces Mrose)

They have 12 Chick eggs in an incubator in their room and they hope that they hatch around November  2nd!!

Their school is “open concept” which means they have very few walls and no doors seperating the classrooms.

Oh yeah, one more things….we couldnt believe that Mrs. Mroz and her students even sent each of the students and Mrs. Aldas a t-shirt from their school!

We are so excited to find out more about them!!  We plan to exchange our letters around the first week of November.

We will keep you posted.

B-5 News

Take a look at what we are up to in B-5! Click on the link to the right titled, “Pictures” and you will see some of the bright stars in our class.   I will update the pictures often so make sure you visit the sight through out the school year.  We have also been exploring with our FLIP video camera and recording ourselves while performing story retellings and ”Cheering” our weekly vocabulary words.  We then LOVE to watch our classmates on TV (and it becomes a nice review too)!

Please refer to the weekly homework sheet for topics we are covering that week!
